Exploring Interactions
Design Goal
Guide the café owners in The Hague in taking the right decision in regard to having a positive impact on the environment.
Interaction Vision
The interaction(s) with my concept should be like feeling to be taught how to paint a fence by Mr. Miyagi.
Desire | Conscious | Supported | Effortless
Desire – It can be seen that Daniel has a need to paint the fence.
This can be translated to the fact that the café owners do have the need to do good for the environment. Research showed this, but often there is a lack of knowledge, time or financial resources to do better and more. Therefore the focus of the concept is not to encourage them to ‘paint the fence’ (start doing good), as it’s something they already want to do.
Conscious – Daniel thinks he is painting the fence correctly.
This can be translated to the fact that café owners are already trying to do whatever they can within their power but they do not know how much impact they already have and whatever they’re doing is actually good or if they can improve it and do more.
Supported – Daniel gets guidance from Mr. Miyagi on how to actually paint the fence the correct way.
This can be translated to the fact that café owners will be taught how to properly have impact on the environment, how much impact they have with a certain action and whether they could improve their current actions and add new actions to have a positive impact on the environment.
Effortless – As Daniel is painting the fence, it can be seen that it is not something very difficult. He just needed the right guidance from his master.
This can be translated to the fact that what most café owners have to do, is actually not difficult but they just need a push from someone else and make them realise it is pretty easy to have a positive impact on the environment.
